sennder frees 130,000+ dispatcher hours a year

The Berlin-based digital freight forwarder automated the manual tracking and exception work its dispatchers used to do by hand, saving effort on every order and making the process auditable, by moving to CO3's vehicle-data platform.

Loads automated a year

sennder is one of the fastest growing logistics companies in Europe.

As their volumes grew, the manual work behind every shipment grew with them. Spotting delays, checking waiting times and answering "where is my load" were done largely by phone and email, and that effort scaled one-for-one with the number of loads.

The challenge: why now

Exception management was the clearest example. Finding a delayed or waiting load and resolving it had become a manual task concentrated in a few experienced dispatchers. It did not scale, it depended on specific people, and it left no clear record for the billing and admin questions customers increasingly asked.

Automating it required the full data picture from every vehicle: GPS for deviations, ETAs for customer updates, waiting times for billing, and tachograph data for planning. Collecting that consistently across 40,000 vehicles on more than a hundred different telematics systems was the barrier.

The solution

CO3's vehicle data platform gave sennder the full data set from every partner vehicle. Its average update rate of 1.8 min meant more than 3x as many vehicle updates as sennder's previous data source, allowing sennder to automate three tasks it could not before:

  1. Proactively informing its customers on delay risks based on CO3's reliable ETA predictions.
  2. Detecting waiting times at loading and unloading.
  3. Flagging route deviations as they happen to mitigate security and safety concerns and potential delays.

The impact

Less manual effort per order and a process that scales:

  • 130,000+ dispatcher hours freed a year: 8 minutes saved across 1M+ loads.
  • Exception management automated and auditable, no longer dependent on a few people.
  • Cleaner waiting-time billing, with detention backed by timestamped proof.
